WHAT IS TRUNK-OR-TREAT?
Participants go and bring their cars to a central location -- in this case, our College Park Elementary Staff Parking Lot. The drivers and their families decorate their cars for Halloween, sometimes creating elaborate scenes out of their trunks (though not required!). Then kids walk from vehicle to vehicle, collecting candy the way they would during a normal trick-or-treating outing. Note that attendees are not required to bring and decorate their cars -- just the participants that wish to do so. Families can simply attend and trick-or-treat and enjoy the festivities without bringing their vehicles on site and passing out candy.
WHO CAN ATTEND THIS EVENT?
All College Park Elementary students, families, staff, friends, neighbors, and community members are welcome.
HOW MUCH DOES THIS EVENT COST?
This is a free event sponsored by College Park PTA -- no admission cost.
Our 6th Grade Class of 2025 Committee will be selling pizza, chips, and water combos, so bring some cash and your appetites! Proceeds will help to raise funds for their 6th grade promotion ceremony and activities at the end of this school year. Cash, credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay will be accepted (a small convenience fee will apply to non-cash transactions).
DO WE NEED TO REGISTER?
No registration is required to attend. If you do intend to bring your vehicle and hand out candy as part of the trunk-or-treat section, please sign up by Wednesday, October 23, 2024, as trunk-or-treat vehicle spaces are limited.
WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
For attendees, here are some suggested items to bring with you to this event:
- Empty bag/pillow case/bucket for collecting candy
- Flashlight or glow sticks to help light your way
- Cash to purchase pizza combos
For those who will be handing out candy for the trunk-or-treat section, we will provide further info after you complete our sign up form.
CAN I BRING FOOD?
Please consider supporting our 6th Grade Class of 2025 by purchasing their pizza, cookie, and water combos. Cash, credit card, Apple Pay, and Google Pay will be accepted (a small convenience fee will apply to non-cash transactions). If you do decide to bring your own food, please make sure to clean up after yourself and limit the food sharing to just your own family.
WHAT CAN WE WEAR?
Costumes are encouraged! We do need to follow certain rules though, especially since we will be on school property. Please adhere to these costume guidelines:
- Wear costumes that won't cause you or others to trip and fall
- No accessories or costume items resembling ANY sort of weapon (e.g. guns, firearms, knives, swords, etc.)
- No inappropriate or excessively revealing costumes -- please keep it family and kid friendly!
WHERE DO WE PARK?
For those who are not including their vehicles for the trunk-or-treat section, please park on the surrounding streets of the school and be respectful of the neighbors' homes and driveways.
For those who are including their vehicles for the trunk-or-treat section, we will provide further info on the parking situation after you complete the sign up form.
WHAT TIME IS THE EVENT?
All the festivities start at 5:00pm and end at 7:00pm. Attendees can come and go at any time between then.
For those who are including their vehicles and handing out candy for the trunk-or-treat section, you must arrive between 4:00-4:45pm so that we can set up the trunk-or-treat section safely before attendees arrive. You must also stay until 7:00pm for the entire duration of the event and follow our instructions to safely depart with your vehicle after the event has ended. More info will provided to you after you complete the sign up form.
CAN I DROP OFF MY CHILD AT THIS EVENT?
This is NOT a drop-off event for kids. All minors under age 14 must be under the supervision of a responsible adult in attendance. There will be no adult supervisors on duty to watch over your kids, so please plan accordingly.
